Ben began his career at the historic Soho restaurant, Quo Vadis, but his love of food was instilled long before that. As a child, Ben would spend summers on the Normandy coast with his family, cycling through the village for fresh croissants in the morning, enjoying moules marinière by the harbour, and learning how to pour the perfect Dubonnet and tonic.
Growing up in Jersey, where there is a rich abundance of local produce and seafood, Ben developed an early interest in cooking, from his grandmother. What started as a hobby, has turned into a career, and over the last 14 years, Ben has worked in a number of beloved London establishments, including Trullo, the Camberwell Arms and the Garden Café, and more recently with Cass Titcombe at Brassica. Since 2022, Ben has been based in Dorset with his young family, and a move from London has brought with it a change from restaurant kitchens to private dining and large-scale catering events.
The ethos behind Russet is to celebrate seasonal offerings, by making the most of being ideally situated on the Dorset-Somerset border, while acknowledging the simplicity of the pan-European heritage that Ben’s experience brings. Our food encourages conviviality, whether in small intimate settings or larger gatherings; it is considered and joyful. Above all, we are informed by a desire to enhance your event, whatever the occasion may be.
“We’re so glad we had Ben catering our wedding. He was creative, flexible, and guided us through the planning process seamlessly. On the day, he and his team were a joy to have as part of the wedding, and the feast he put together was a hit with everyone. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him and his delicious cooking to anyone.”
